April 29, 1942 Exclusion Order No. 20 affected 660 people living in the area bounded by Sutter and California streets and Presidio and Van Ness Avenues in San Francisco. The Japanese Americans living in those neighborhoods were ordered to report to 2031 Bush St. for registration, and then, on this day, for removal to internment camps for the duration of the Second World War, and faced loss of their homes and businesses. Sad day in history

Okay garden folks: what do you do when hornets move in two feet from your back door? I know they are pollinators, but they gotta go. How!???

When you don't know what to do.... What do you do? Tantrum. Tired. So tired.

I want to focus on the good news in the world. And, maybe, more just in my own community of friends and family. I am so tired of hearing bad news from the far reaches of the world. I do not think our brains are hardwired to be able to conceive of and cope with so much heartache, fear, hatred, and overwhelming disaster everyday. I think our ancestors had it right when they lived in tribes, where everyone knew each other, and could actually see the damage poor decisions and actions made on each other. I know you can never unlearn or un-hear anything, but I sure wish the media, and people in general, would at the very least balance it all and share happy moments and successes rather than always only focusing on anger and disillusionment. There. Rant over...

Looking at my finger growing back, weirdest thing. My fingerprint is coming up little by little, like a photograph in a dark room. Been looking at it for days. Every day a little more definition in my fingerprint.

Sipping a double of Jameson's. There are some tantrums that make no sense. Befuddle me, then exhaust me. Five minutes later, she's SINGING in the shower. Singing. Wow.

I was in West Virginia when 9/11 happened. And yesterday I was in California as Boston's bombing unfolded. I am experiencing the same dismay and sadness. I know 9/11 was on a different scale, but Boston was my home. There is a certain hopelessness about how the victims are never really the ones who are doing the fighting-- The victims always seem to be caught in the crossfire of the extremists fighting whatever fight they think they are fighting-- whether it's religious, political or just in their own minds. Suffering like this is never justified though. But hope resides in how we respond. We cannot be intimidated, we must reach out and help each other and carry on. And that is what i saw in the way Boston reacted. People ran toward the blast to help those who couldn't help themselves. People with homes near the blast opened them up for respite for those who needed it. the first responders, police, fire personnel, hospitals and medical people all worked quickly and professionally. Even those runners from all over the world, kept running to the hospitals to give blood. I am saddened that Boston has become another in a long list of places that have been affected by this senseless violence that has seemed to contaminate our culture. I am at a loss today.

I woke up this morning feeling sorry for myself, whining and complaining. All I have to deal with are bugs and a cut finger and a few other things that now seem totally and completely insignificant and ridiculous compare to what's going on in Boston. Thinking of all my friends and relatives back there and praying. What the hell has happened to our world. Our humanity. Between all the extremists lay the victims. So sad.

I am officially overwhelmed. We have lice again. I'm tired. My finger hurts. My neck is still jacked and now I have to wash everything.... EVERYTHING. I am past bummed out. Between this, and how challenging Lena has become (yes more challenging) I cannot catch up on everything I need to do. I can't. I kinda just wanna curl up and cry. :(
